NATCHEZ – Services for Ronald Joseph Kilgarlin, 61, of Jackson, who died Friday, April 25, 2008, at his residence, due to cancer, will be at 11 a.m. today at St. Mary Basilica with the Rev. David O’Connor officiating.
Burial will follow at Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time today at the church.
Mr. Kilgarlin was born Nov. 5, 1946. He lived in Texas for many years as a child. His undergraduate collegial years were in Ruston, La. and his collegial studies at Louisiana State University qualified him to be an attorney-at-law. He practiced as a criminal prosecutor.
Mr. Kilgarlin’s favorite sport was football. He played football in high school and in the Marines’ boot camp. He was a Marine 1st Lt. and served two years tour of duty in the Vietnam war, receiving an honorable discharge.
Mr. Kilgarlin toured 48 foreign countries and 36 American states. His next desired travel would have been to Alaska and South Africa. He wanted to retire to live on the beaches of Florida and enjoy deep sea fishing daily.
His last employment was as an associate of Wal-Mart Super Center, where he had worked since approximately 1992.
Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Daniela Anne Laws-Kilgarlin; two children by a prior marriage, Ron Jr. and Lisa, both of Louisiana; mother, Mary Jean Hazlip-Kilgarlin of Kenner, La.; and one younger brother, Keith Shannon Kilgarlin of Saudi Arabia.
Pallbearers will be Dwight Hazlip, David Farr, Bruce Butler, Eddie Butler, Henry Butler and John Butler.
Ron is now free of the pain of his cancer, and is home with relatives in heaven with God. Lord, please bless Ron.
