THIBODAUX, La. (AP) — A Mississippi man awaiting bond on domestic violence and child endangerment charges was found strangled in a holding area of the Lafourche Parish jail, Sheriff Craig Webre said.

An inmate and a correctional officer found Christian S. Bush, of Crystal Springs, Miss., with a telephone cord wrapped around his throat Thursday, Webre said.

The sheriff said Bush choked himself. He was found in an area out of range of cameras recently installed at the jail, the statement released by Webre said.

In January, a woman jailed on a warrant for failing to appear on a traffic charge was found hanged by a television cord in a holding cell also out of camera range. That death has been ruled a suicide.
