LORMAN — Alcorn State came out handling business in their non-conference contest against Southeastern Louisiana but couldn’t keep the momentum and fell to the Lions, 11-10.
The Braves jumped out on top early in the game as Alcorn State led 3-2 in the first inning. The Lions roared back with a 6-3 lead only to have the Braves tie the ballgame in the bottom of the third inning.
Southeastern rattled off five uncontested runs before Alcorn State responded in the eighth inning with runs scored by Causton Merchant and Brandon Hollis.
Alcorn State was not willing to go down without a fight as Joel Del Grande scored off of Brian Scott’s single to left field. Alcorn’s Siron Blount scored the final run for the Braves off of Merchant’s single to right field.
The Braves will face the Tigers of Grambling State in a single game tomorrow. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
