RIDGECREST – Services for Louis Joe Cephus, 56, of Ferriday, who died Friday, May 16, 2008, at Riverland Medical Center, in Ferriday, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. James Baptist Church, 151 Weeks Circle, Ridgecrest, with the Rev. Johnnie Brown officiating.
Burial will follow at Ferriday Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Cephus was born June 11, 1951, in Ferriday, the son of George Cephus Sr. and Addie Taylor Cephus. He was employed with the State of Louisiana as a highway supervisor.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include six children, Shawn M. Cephus of Lafayette, Creighton Stewart, Jola Cephus and Christy Cephus, all of Baton Rouge, Louis Joe Perry of St. Joseph and Tracy Cephus, of Killeen, Texas; two brothers, George Cephus Jr. and wife, Rosenda, both of Duncanville, Texas and Junior Johnson and wife, Lettie, both of Ferriday; two sisters, Addie C. Wilson and husband, Niles, both of Ferriday, and Oneder C. Roy and husband, Harry, both of Baton Rouge; 11 grandchildren; two aunts; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
