Don’t let muscial May pass you by

If you haven’t heard beautiful voices and catchy tunes this month you haven’t tried very hard.
Just like every year for the last 18 years the Natchez Festival of Music has seeped into the pores of Natchez this month.
Performers from New York, Florida and around the country have performed nearly nightly around town. They’ve visited civic clubs and churches. They have even belted a few tunes for free in the park.
But the talented performers will soon be packing their bags and heading out. The festival’s last events occur this weekend.
Natchez is blessed to have the festival, but residents often take it for granted. Not every small town has the opportunity to see Broadway shows in their local auditorium.
So if you’ve let May slide by without a few sweet sounds, take note now. Performers from the festival will be at Memorial Park at noon today. The show is a free way to enjoy lunch.
Two Plantation Performances are scheduled for Friday evening at Elms Court and Auburn. And Mozart’s “Così Fan Tutte” will begin at 8 p.m. Saturday.
Call 601-445-6103, go to www.NatchezFestivalOfMusic.com or visit Natchez Pilgrimage Tours at the Natchez Visitor Reception Center for tickets.
May is almost over. Don’t take it for granted.
