When the vote count was complete at 4 a.m. Wednesday morning, incumbent sheriff Reginald Jackson and District 2 supervisor Richard Hollins prevailed and candidate Lynn Tolliver Delaney unseated circuit clerk Mon Cree Allen in the Wilkinson County Democratic Party special election.
According to the Woodville Republican, unofficial numbers show incumbent sheriff Jackson winning the election with 2,282 votes against Jessie Stewart’s 2,219 votes.
Delaney received 2,476 votes to Allen’s 1,970 votes.
Hollins received 552 votes to Kirk Smith’s 523 votes.
The Wilkinson County Circuit Clerk’s office could not confirm the numbers. An announcement from the Wilkinson County Democratic Executive Committee was expected Wednesday morning.
