VIDALIA – Services for Ernest Hagan, 88, of Vidalia, who died Monday, June 23, 2008, at his residence, will be at noon Sunday at Young’s Chapel Baptist Church, in Vidalia, with Brother Wendell Greene Sr. officiating.
Burial will follow at Vidalia Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today with Masonic and Eastern Star services beginning at 7 p.m.
Mr. Hagan was born Jan. 1, 1920, in Vidalia, the son of Joe and Maggie Brown Hagan. He was a member of New St. James Baptist Church.
Mr. Hagan was past Patron of Rosewood Chapter No. 65 O.E. S., past Joshua of Fidelity Heriones of Jericho Chapter No. 20 and past Master Pride of Vidalia No. 106 Masonic Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Leonard and Joseph Hagan; one sister, Irma Hagan Allen; and one daughter, Ernestine Primas.
Survivors include his wife, Jennie Tibbs Hagan; one son, Ernest Ellis and wife, Phyllis, both of Ferriday; one brother, Archie Hagan of Vidalia; one sister, Mathiel Tucker of Yuba City, Calif.; three grandchildren, Tanya L. Mitchell of Bowie, Md., Attorney Jennesia M. Primas of Eastpoint, Ga., and Ernestine Davis of Cartersville, Ga.; one sister-in-law, Mary T. Brown of San Mateo, Calif.; two godchildren, James H. Singleton of Chicago and Rhonda E. Bell of Vidalia; and a number of nieces and nephews, including Mayor Gene Allen of Ferriday.
