Harrisonburg — Services for Richard E. Ogden, 84, of Harrisonburg, who died Saturday, June 28, 3008, at his residence, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Kidron Baptist Church with the Rev. Fred Day, the Rev. Ralph Webber and Robert Bradley officiating.
Burial will follow at Harrisonburg Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home, Jonesville.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until service time Monday at the church.
Mr. Ogden was born July 3, 1923, in Harrisonburg, the son of John Earnest Ogden and Mary Anna Ogden.
He owned and operated R.E.O. Welding and was a member of Kidron Baptist Church.
He proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Airforce as a technical sergeant on a B-17G, which was the largest bomber at that time. Mr. Ogden flew approximately 40 missions in nine countries.
He was a devoted Christian, a loving husband, father, grandfather, whose job was spending time with his grandchildren.
Mr. Ogden was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Albert, Coy Lee and Frank Ogden; and three sisters, L.E. McDonald, Marie Alexander and Allie Ballance.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Alice Ogden; four daughters, Renee Deville and husband Larry of West Monroe, Karen King and husband Ben, Rhonda Faircloth and husband Robert, all of Jonesville, and Sharon Mason of Harrisonburg; one son, John Ogden and wife Ramon of West Monroe; two sisters, Mary Anner Stockman of Harrisonburg and Leathie Nell Taylor of Jonesville; 10 grandchildren, Matt, April, Kristy, Kelcey, Bree, Dustin, Tyler, Erin, Rob and Angie; and seven great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Kelsie, Payton, Sydney, Jacob, Luke and Aiden.
Pallbearers will be Ben King, Matthew Deville, Jereme Crocker, Rob Faircloth, Dustin Ogden and Tyler Ogden.
Honorary pallbearers will be Luke Crocker, Aiden Palmer, Jacob Deville, Payton Ryan, J.D. Alexander and Roy Ogden.
