Ferriday 12U stays alive

OAK GROVE, La. — The Ferriday Ponytails 12-and-under fast-pitch All-Stars stayed alive in the district tournament with a 4-3 win over the Winnsboro All-Stars in seven innings Tuesday afternoon.

Winning pitcher Laura Perriloux had an outstanding complete-game performance on the mound for the Ponytails as she struck out 16 batters while Winnsboro managed just two hits off her.

Ferriday was led at the plate by Mackenzie Milligan, who went 2-for-3 with a triple. Tori Laird, Maggie Ray and Chelsey Richards each had a single.

Davis (no first name given) pitched five innings and kept Winnsboro in the game before giving up the game-winning run in the seventh.

The Ponytails will take on the winner of the West Carroll-Jonesville game Thursday at 8 p.m.

OAK GROVE, La. — The pitching trip of Heidi Thornton, Mary Sanders and Ellen Bairnsfather held Winnsboro to just two hits and two unearned runs in Ferriday’s win in the Dixie Belles 13-15-year-old tournament.

Each of the three pitchers pitched two innings and Sanders was credited with the win.

Ferriday broke open a scoreless game with three runs in the top of the fourth, and after Winnsboro scored two in the bottom of the inning, Ferriday broke the game open with four runs in the top of the fifth.

They scored their final run of the game in the top of the seventh inning.

In addition to pitching two scoreless innings, Bairnsfather led Ferriday at the plate, going 3-for-4.

Ferriday remains undefeated in the tournament and will play West Carroll at 8 p.m. today in Oak Grove, La.
