JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Bond has been denied two suspects in the shooting of a Jackson police officer.
Municipal Judge Henry Clay ordered 23-year-old Antoine Turner and 20-year-old Cornelius Black returned to jail after an initial hearing Wednesday.
Investigators have accused the pair of robbing Mississippi Title Loans on U.S. 80 Monday and then shooting Officer DeWayne Collier as he tried to arrest them in west Jackson.
They both face charges of aggravated assault on a police officer, armed carjacking, armed robbery and being convicted felons in possession of firearms.
Collier was listed in serious condition Wednesday at University Medical Center.
