Ronald Rogers

BROOKHAVEN – Services for Ronald F. Rogers, 75, of Brookhaven, who died Sunday, July 6, 2008, at Southwest Regional Medical Center, will be at 2 p.m. today at Harrigill Funeral Home Chapel in Brookhaven.
Burial will follow at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery, in the Topeka community, under the direction of Harrigill Funeral Home.
Mr. Rogers was born July 3, 1933, in Owensboro, Ky., the son of James A. Rogers and Viola Wimp Rogers. He was an international seafood consultant, spinning his quick wit by introducing himself as a DSF, Dead Fish Salesman. He traveled all over the world. He spent a great deal of time in Mexico, Japan and China negotiating with government officials for the exporting of seafood in bulk to the United States. He was retired.
Mr. Rogers attended Parkway Baptist Church, in Natchez, and was a member of First Baptist Church, in Brookhaven, where he taught Sunday school. He entered the U.S. Air Force at age 14 and served for nine years, specializing in radar operations.
Mr. Rogers was a history buff, avid reader and an accomplished crossword puzzle solver.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert E. Rogers; and one sister, Dorothy R. Rowell.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann Rogers; one daughter, Rhonda Rogers Foster of Boron, Calif.; one stepson, Charles B. “Billy” Wells of Ruston, La.; two stepdaughters, Kim Keene and Debbie Christian, both of Los Angeles; two brothers, Leonard G. Rogers and wife, Sue, both of Water Valley, and James T. Rogers and wife, Joyce, both of Owensboro, Ky.; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
