NATCHEZ – Services for John C. “Buddy” Maier Sr., 78, of Natchez, who died Thursday, July 24, 2008, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Basilica with the Rev. Leopold Keffler and the Rev. Freddie Canon officiating.
Burial will follow at Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mr. Maier was born Dec. 24, 1929, in Natchez, the son of William Joseph Maier Sr. and Julie Lanneaux Maier. He was a member of St. Mary Basilica and the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include one son, John Chris Maier Jr. of Natchez; one daughter, Susan M. Swinny and husband, Scott, both of Brandon; six grandchildren, Michael Maier and wife, Jennifer, April Maier Purdy and husband, Ray, John C. Maier III, Scott R. M. Swinny Jr., James C. Swinny, and Kathleen Anne Swinny; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Anna May Freeman and Margaret Farmer; and three brothers, Walter Maier, Freddie Maier, and Pat Maier all of Natchez.
Pallbearers will be Sammy Corley, Robert Warren, Johnny Guice, William Seyfarth, Scott R. M. Swinny Jr., and James C. Swinny.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Knights of Columbus and Bubba Hale.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary Basilica, Springfield Baptist Church or a charity of choice.
