First week of August full of good news

When gas prices drop and electric rates go down, it’s definitely a good week.
But the good news in the Miss-Lou doesn’t end in your bank account. The first full week of August was full of good news all around. Let’s review some of the best headlines.
4The United Way has kicked off yet another fundraising campaign. And though it’s too early to know how well the dollar collecting will go, we are thankful to have such a group of hardworking people in our community. With lower prices at the pump, perhaps the fundraising will go better than expected.
4The annual Food & Lifestyle Show, sponsored by The Markets, brought truckloads of new products to town this weekend. Vendors gave away free samples all day Saturday and Sunday, and locals got a chance to learn about everything from their health to a new car. The event is one of few that can reach such a wide spectrum of local residents.
4The Mayor’s Youth Council is a group of top-notch students as is. But when ideas like Family Fun Day come to fruition the group should get major brownie points. A group of high school students organized Saturday night’s event, giving area children and families a largely free, fun night.
All remaining area schools will begin classes this week, welcoming the fall season in strength. We know the week to come will be a great one.
