NATCHEZ – Services for Joe Winchester Jr., 79, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church with the Rev. Ernest Ford Sr. officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of George. F. West Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mr. Winchester was born Feb. 26, 1929, the son of Joe and Sarah Winchester. He was employed by McCalip Gravel Company for 18 years and Willie B. Crumb Logging for 42 years.
Mr. Winchester enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Robert and David Winchester.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Griffin Winchester; six daughters, Emma Woodfork and husband, Willie, Ernestine Griffin, all of Natchez, Ethel Griffin of Albany, N.Y., and Bertha Criswell and husband, Elijah, both of Dallas; and two of White Castle, La.; two brothers, Emeal Winchester and wife, Velma, both of Kenner, La., and Albert Wincheser and wife, Ida, both of New Orleans; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Logan, Joseph Logan, Jerry Sanders, Elijah Criswell, Bernard Robinson and Christopher Sauicer.
