Ferriday — Services for Edith “Babydoll” White, 83, of Ferriday, who died Friday, Aug. 29, 2008, at Camelot Leisure Living in Ferriday, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Sycamore Baptist Church with Brother Richard Cullum officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Natchez, under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. White was born Dec. 19, 1924, in Kilgore, Texas, the daughter of Thomas and Marc Leah Thornton.

She was a resident of Ferriday, a registered dietician and a member of Sycamore Baptist Church.

Mrs. White was preceded in death by her parents’ four brothers, Toy, McCoy, Roy and Pete Thornton; and two sisters, Denith Palmer and Katherine Puckett.

Survivors include her husband Charles White, of Ferriday; two daughters, Charlene Freeman and Delois Leah White, both of Ferriday; two sons, David N. White Sr., and wife Inez, and Gary W. White Sr., and wife Pam, all of Vidalia; two brothers, Joe Thornton of Fresno, Calif., and Cody Thornton of Idaho; one sister, Jackie Gordon, of Fresno, Calif.; six grandsons, Ron Nolan, Gary Wayne White Jr., David White Jr., Mark Anthony White, Ben Daniels Jr., and Cody W. White; six granddaughters, Sunni Freeman Branstetter, Amy Nicole Jernigan, Misty Loraine Britt, Sarah Elizabeth Daniels, Rachel Leah Caldwell and Alicia Dawn White; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of Sycamore Baptists Church.
