NATCHEZ — With a plethora of activities for everyone to enjoy, the second annual Great Southern Outdoors Expo is an event that the whole family can enjoy.

Once you pays for a ticket to enter the Expo, every activity inside is free except for the Mechanial Bull Ride, which was sponsored by Cathys Cowboy Corral.

The mechanical bull was rented from the Mechanical Bull Association, based in Phoenix, Ariz., and Burt Hairgove came from Timpson, Texas to operate the bull.

“I’ve been operating mechanical bulls for about six months now,” Hairgrove said. “I set up, operate, and take down the bull.”

One attendee of the expo, Dustin McFarland decided to take a shot at the bull.

“It was hard, but it was fun,” McFarland said. “I plan on trying for the grand prize later.”

The grand prize McFarland was referring to is $500 from 95 Country given to the male and female riders who can stay on the bull the longest.

Some of the other activities at the expo were a NASCAR simulator, a golf swing simulator and a snake show presented by Guiness world record holder, Jack Bibby.

Attendees of the Expo could touch rattlesnakes that were inside of the booth.

Local vendors also had merchandise for sale at their respective booths.

Some out-of-town vendors were also at the event, most notably Bass Pro Shops.

Chad Ridgeway and his employees made the trek from Denham Springs to Natchez for the expo and brought lots of merchandise with them.

“We brought footwear, shirts, even fresh fudge,” Ridgeway said. “I’ve been doing these shows for about two years but this is my first with Bass Pro.”

With so many things to see and do at the expo, it’s a great event for families to come spend the afternoon together and have a good time.
