MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. — Services for Charles Patrick Stokes Sr., 69, of Leighton, Ala., who died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008.

Burial will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Reeves Cemetery in McComb under the direction of Colbert Memorial Fuenral Home.

Mr. Stokes was born in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, but was raised in McComb. He was CEO of Bethesda Regional Cancer Centers for 14 years. He had worked for Humana, Inc. from 1969-1994 as CEO of hospitals in Erath, La., Springhill, La., Anchorage, Ark., and Muscle Shoals, Ala. He was honored as “Boss of the Year” by ABWA in 1986, and the American Cancer Society in 2007.

Survivors include his wife, Marsha; children, Patricia Estess of Greenwell Springs, La., Rhonda Mallison of Muscle Shoals, Charles P. Stokes, Jr. of Birmingham, Ala., and David R. Stokes of Muscle Shoals; mother, Alice Stokes; sister, Fay Ray; brother, Bill Stokes, all of Brandon; and six grandchildren.

Mr. Stokes was preceded in death by his father, Talt Butler Stokes and brother-in-law, Ervin M. Ray.
