STAMPS, Ark. – Services for H.B. “Sonny” Higdon, 70, of Lewisville, Ark., who died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008, at a Texarkana Hospital, will be at 10 a.m. today at the Piney Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Leon Turner and the Rev. Shawn Hicks officiating.
Burial will follow at Sewell Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home in Stamps, Ark.
Mr. Higdon was born Nov. 27, 1927, in Shreveport, La. He had a love for his Lord, horses and his dogs. He was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church.
Mr. Higdon was employed by Bruce Alford for 15 years. He grew up in Sicily Island.
He was preceded in death by his parents, H.B. Higdon Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. Red Newman; one brother, Jimmy Newman; and one sister, Bonnie Robinson.
Survivors include a special angel from heaven, his wife, Joyce Higdon; four sons, Cody Higdon and wife, Cheryl, both of Ferriday, Joe Higdon and wife, Brenda, both of Jonesville, Creg Higdon and wife, Tana, both of Monroe, La., and Jimmy Allen and wife, Kathy, both of Texarkana, Ark.; four daughters, Tia Juana Thompson and husband, Jerry, both of Mangham, La., Tammy Higdon of Archibald, La., Dawn Bailey and husband, Brad, of Benton, Ark., and Cynthia Allen Halter and husband, Mike, both of Lewisville, Ark.; 24 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
