Neotha Briggs

NATCHEZ – Services for Neotha Savage Briggs, 78, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Greater Macedonia Baptist Church with the Rev. James Anderson officiating.
Burial will follow at Pine Hill Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mrs. Briggs was born May 22, 1930, in Natchez, the daughter of William Savage and Ophelia Buckner Savage. She was a former employee of the Natchez Pecan Factory and the Natchez-Adams County Public School System.
Mrs. Briggs was a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herman J. Briggs Sr.; one daughter, Cynthia Briggs Young; one son, Willie “Doonie” Briggs; two sisters, Mertilda B. Scott and Gertrude Montgomery; one brother, William Savage; and one grandson, Jamar Frazier.
Survivors include one daughter, Margaret Frazier and husband, James, both of Newellton, La.; two sons, Herman Julius Briggs Jr. and wife, Cecelia, both of Gulfport, and Robert Farr and wife, Beatrice, both of Lafayette, La.; one sister, Dorothy Briggs of Natchez; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
