MONTEREY — Services for Eva Paul Moreland, 93, of Monterey, who died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008, in Jonesville, will be at 11 a.m. Sunday at New Era Baptist Church with Brother Leland Briggs assisted by Brother Andy Johnson officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the church.
Ms. Moreland was born July 23, 1915, in Eva, La., the daughter of James and Almeda Young Paul.
She was a home maker and a charter member of New Era Baptist Church and Order of the Eastern Star #157. She taught sunday school for many years at New Era as well as serving in the Womens Missionary Union and Girls Auxillary.
Ms. Moreland was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Claude Moreland; great grandson, Jordan Glynn Tiffee; brothers, Willie Paul and Raymond Paul; and sisters, Evie Paul Bounds and Myrtle Paul Lipsey.
Survivors include two sons, Wayne Moreland and wife, Rosalind, both of Houston, Texas and Kent Moreland and wife, Betty, both of Monterey; two daughters, Lynda Calhoun and husband, Riley and Beverly Tiffee and husband, Gene, all of Monterey; one brother, Clay Paul and wife, Willedean, both of Monterey; two sisters-in-law, Adella Paul of Acme, La. and Omeda Paul of Alexandria; brother-in-law, Clyde Moreland of Monterey; grandchildren, Lance Moreland of Denver, Colo., Brent Moreland of Houston, Texas, Brenda Moreland Entenza of Houston, Texas, Deidra Moreland Shively, Stephen Moreland, Michelle Moreland Burley, Kim Calhoun Strebeck, Toni Calhoun Woodruff, Nan Calhoun Mount, Chris Calhoun Young of Monroe, La., Jason Tiffee, Dana Tiffee White and Brian Tiffee; 35 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Lance Moreland, Brent Moreland, Stephen Moreland, Theo Burley Jr., Brad Mount, Cary Shively, Van Strebeck, Jason Tiffee and Brian Tiffee.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joel Young, Damon Woodruff, Lynn White and Henry Entenza.
