SICILY ISLAND, La. – Services for Charlie L. Ratcliff, 72, of Sicily Island, who died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008, at his residence, will be at 2 p.m. today at New Hope Pentecostal Church with Brother Chris Hamilton and Brother Ed Ellis officiating.
Burial will follow at Highland Park Cemetery, in Sicily Island, under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Mr. Ratcliff was born July 4, 1936, in Sicily Island, the son of Henry Louis Ratcliff and Ruby Lee Ratcliff.
Mr. Ratcliff was employed as a construction worker and a truck driver. He was a member of New Hope Pentecostal Church. He grew up in Sicily Island and loved to hunt and fish. Much of his time was spent preparing for the next hunting or fishing trip.
Mr. Ratcliff was a loving husband and father, always putting his family first. He and his wife of 49 years hardly ever spent a night apart. He was a philosopher and a joker. He loved to make everyone laugh. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Beulah Marie Ratcliff; three daughters, Terry Ratcliff of Colyell, La., Evelyn Rials, of New Orleans, and Jenny Mendoza and Tim, both of French Settlement, La.; one son, Henry Joe Ratcliff of Sicily Island; one brother, Nollie “Lew” Ratcliff and wife, Tressie, both of Sicily Island; two sisters, Ruby Pauline Tanner and Nadine Campbell and husband, Ray, all of Sicily Island; four grandsons, Charles Harvey, Joshua Ratcliff, Alex Ratcliff and Cody McCarty; three granddaughters, Kaci Lee Marie Walker, Chelsea Ratcliff and Jessica McCarty; and seven nieces and nephews, James, John and Luke Lee, Clint and Shan Price, Russell Tanner and Teresa Bowman.
Pallbearers will be James Lee, John Lee, Luke Lee, Cody McCarty, Clint Price, Shan Price and Chris Hattaway.
