MONTEREY, La. – Services for Winnie “Benge” Tiffee, 83, of Monterey, who died Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008, at St. Francis Cabrini Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Eva Church of God, with the Rev. Kevin Sims and the Rev. Gordon Finley officiating.
Burial will follow at Arthur Asher Tiffee Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the church.
Mrs. Tiffee was born Feb. 22, 1925, in Sicily Island, the daughter of Thomas and Bertie Benge. She was a member of Eva Church of God.
Mrs. Tiffee was employed as a nurse for Dr. White, in Jonesville, where she met and later married Aubrey Layne Tiffee. She was also a nurse in the Ferriday area f or Dr. Ratcliff, Dr. Coleman and Dr. Gibson. She retired from Concordia Nursing Home.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one granddaughter, Chloe Swingley Cross; her parents; two sisters, Theda Mae Cupit and Mary Nell Higgins; and four brothers, Troy Lee Benge, James Jessie Benge, Wilmer Hugh Benge and Billy Ray Benge.
Survivors include one daughter, Judy Tiffee Cross; one son, Tommy Tiffee and wife, Kelly, all of Monterey; five grandchildren, Alison Rebecca Brewer, Hartwell Layne Tiffee, Brandie Love Tiffee, Claire Annette Cross and Thomas Arthur Tiffee; three great-grandchildren, Aubrey Chloe Brewer, Gabriel Layne Herrington and Thomas Lee Tiffee; one brother, Joe Don Benge of Longview, Texas; and one sister, Annie Lorelle Kupice of Marietta, Ga.
Pallbearers will be her nephews.
