FERRIDAY – Services for Leslie “Pool Hall” Carter Jr., 64, of Ferriday, who died Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Beulah Baptist Church with the Rev. Tracy Cusic officiating.
Burial will follow at Ferriday Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Carter was born Oct. 8, 1944, in Ferriday, the son of Leslie Carter Sr. and Essie Holmes Carter Lewis. He was employed by Concordia Parish School Board as a bus driver.
Mr. Carter was a member of St. Mary Baptist Church in Lake St. John.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Clara Watson Carter; one daughter, Tywanna Crockett and husband, Israel, all of Ferriday; one stepson, Brandon Watson Sr. and wife, Dawn, both of Baton Rouge; one stepdaughter, Melanie R. Watson of Wichita, Kan.; stepfather, the Rev. Robert Lewis Jr. of Ferriday; four brothers, Robert Thomas of New Orleans, Richard Thomas of Dallas, Anthony Holmes and Lavon Carter, both of Ferriday; five sisters, Hazel Smith and husband, Jerry, both of New Orleans, Pinkie Thomas and husband, Chris, and Betty Carter, all of Ferriday, Vera Cowins and husband, James, both of Atlanta, and Annice Jackson and husband, Gary, both of Ruston, La.; one grandchild, Idrick J. Crockett of Ferriday; two aunts; three stepgrandsons, Brandon Jr., Jordan and Josua Watson, all of Baton Rouge; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
