Cure for cruelty is accountability

Late last month a tiny puppy nearly died at the neglectful hands and cold heart of a human owner.
A cruel owner chose to get rid of the animal by tossing it into a garbage Dumpster.
Fortunately, some kind folks rescued the 6-month-old puppy.
Humane Society officials said the rescue came not a moment too soon. The puppy was on its last leg.
Thanks to some caring hands the little puppy will survive and, in fact, has been adopted by some caring new owners.
But the Dumpster puppy story is a success because it ends on a happy note. Unfortunately, many other such cruelty cases don’t end so happily.
Animal cruelty remains a problem in our community, from animals that are not fed properly to blatant abuse like tossing a puppy into a Dumpster to die.
Animals were not put on this earth for us to abuse. They were place here for us, and we’re entrusted with their care.
Animal abuse is a problem that we need to rid from our community. The only way to solve it is to not let such criminal perpetrators get away with it.
Someone knows who tossed the puppy into the Dumpster and we urge that person to call authorities and let them know who the guilty party is.
Such an act should not go unpunished.
