Rachel Holloway had a team-leading 14 rebounds to go with her four points.

“At times they flowed very well and at other times we didn’t. We just made some mistakes,” Hall said. “It’s all of these girls contributing, Sara Beth’s senior leadership — they just all did it together.”

ACCS got off to a good start and led 17-7 at the end of the first quarter. The visiting Lady Rebels from Liberty managed to cut into the lead, but still trailed by eight points at halftime.

The third quarter belonged to the host Lady Rebels as they outscored Amite School Center 22-5 for a commanding 47-22 lead.

Even though the Lady Rebels won in convincing fashion, Hall noted a few things could have been better.

“On the defensive end, we didn’t move our feet as well as we could have and we fouled some. And of course in the offensive execution, at times we were real smooth and at times we weren’t. It was not nearly where we would want it to be,” she said. “But it’s early. It’s a work in progress.”

However, Hall did say that she was very pleased with the team’s defensive intensity and rebounding as well as the players’ unity and encouragement of each other.

Chloe Carnegie led Amite School Center with 10 points and Candy Swims chipped in with seven points.

Tensas Academy 33, WCCA 30

Two days after scoring 29 points in a stunning 50-39 win over Class AAA Parklane, Mary Miller Ratcliff was at it again as she scored a game-high 15 points to lead the Lady Chiefs past the Lady Rams Thursday night.

WCCA (1-1) trailed 28-17 at the end of the third quarter but went on a furious rally in the fourth quarter. But Tensas Academy did just enough to hold on for the victory to improve to 2-0 on the season.

Jordan Leake chipped in with seven points for the Lady Chiefs. Bethany Fletcher led the Lady Rams with nine points and Mary Claire Netterville added eight points.
