Locals vying for fashionette titles during pageant

Natchez — Zeta Delta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. will host the Vogue-Esquire Models of Chicago at 7 p.m. on Nov. 14 in the City Auditorium in Natchez. During intermission, four young ladies will be crowned Miss Fashionetta in each of four categories: Tiny Miss Fashionetta, Little Miss Fashionetta, Junior Miss Fashionetta and Miss Fashionetta.

The sorority will host its biennial event to generate funds for its scholarship efforts. Each year, five scholarships for $1,000 each are awarded to students in Claiborne, Jefferson, Adams and Wilkinson counties and Concorida Parish.

In addition, three to five heritage awards for $500 each are awarded to graduating seniors of members of the sorority.

This year’s event promises to be one of the best yet. Sepia Fashion Revue presents “Fashions Thru the Decades,” and 19 young ladies will be vying for the title, Miss Fashinetta.

The 19 young ladies come from various Miss-Lou communities and have been participating in mentoring activities with sorority members for two months.

Those vying for Tiny Miss Fashionetta are Hailei Clishonna Wilson and MiKayla Williams. Wilson is the five-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Wilson of Fayette. She attends Jeffeson County Elementary School in Fayette.

Williams is the 5-year-old daugther of Michael and Cynthia Williams of Natchez. She attends Holy Family School in Natchez.

Vying for the title of Litte Miss Fashionetta are Carleigh McKenzie Sproulls, Beyoncce Jenkins, Courtney Nicole McGowan and Charneisa Nicole Carradine.

Sproulls is the 6-year-old daughter of Tony Sproulls and granddaughter of Mary Sproulls. She attends West Primary School in Natchez.

Jenkins is the 7-year-old daughter of Yakena Jenkins and Corey Chatman. She attends Frazier Primary School.

McGowan is the 8-year-old daugther of Mr. and Mrs. Willie McGowan, Jr. She is also the granddaughter of Mr. Willie E. McGowan Sr. and Dr. Doris McGowan. She attends A.W. Watson Elementary School in Port Gibson.

Carradine is the 9-yearold daughter of Wanda Washington of Fayette. She attends Jefferson County Elementary School.

Those hoping to capture the title of Junior Miss Fashionetta are Alexus Octavia Calhoun, Na’Keria Harris, Ky’aira Monique Todd, A’Nyah Knight and Bre’Anna H. Moore.

Calhoun is the 10-year-old daugher of Terri A. Watson and James E. Calhoun, Jr. She attends Ferriday Upper Elementary School.

Harris is the 10-year-old daughter of Sabrina Brown and Leonard Harris III of Roxie. She attends Franklin Upper Elementary School in Bude.

Todd is the 12-year-old daughter of Erica Woods and Christopher Todd. She is also the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Woods and Drs J.R. and Fredricka Tood. She attends Cathedral Junior High School.

Knight is the 13-year-old daughter of LaDonna Ware. She attends Robert Lewis Middle School.

Moore is the 13-year-old daughter or Tameka Moore and attends Robert Lewis Middle School.

Vying for the title of Miss Fashionetta are LaKenya Shametria Jackson, Kristin Cornese Hogans, Priscilla Houston, Jalesia Shontell’ Dent, Kiana René Seals, Jivanna Chenia Smith, Laneisha Daniell Jackson and Jonnecia Bolden.

LaKenya Jackson is the 15-year-old daughter of Sharonda Jackson and Kenyon Jackson. She attends Wilkinson County High School in Woodville.

Hogans is the 15-year-old daughter of Renay and Kenneth Hogans. She is the granddaughter of Dorothy and Kenneth Hogans and Oakland, Calif. and the late Audley and Emma Davis of Natchez. She attends Natchez High School

Houston is the 15-year-old daughter of Martin and Mamie Houston of Fayette. She attends Port Gibson High School.

Dent is the 16-year old daughter of Gwendolyn Dent. She attends Natchez High School.

Seals is the 16-year-old daughter of Mrs. Carolyn Smith and Mr. Fanklin Seals. She attends Jefferson County High School.

Smith is the 16-year-old daughter of Darryl and Priscilla Smith of Natchez. She attends Natchez High School.

Laneisha Jackson is the 17-year-old daughter of Kenny and Shirley Jackson in Natchez. She attends Natchez High School.

Bolden is the 17-year-old daughter of Mildred Bolden and Telisher Roach.

She attends Wilkinson County High School in Woodville.
