VIDALIA — A Federal Emergency Management Agency disaster recovery center will open in Concordia Parish Monday.

The center, which will be located in the Vidalia Conference and Convention Center, will be open from Nov. 17 through 29, with the exception of Nov. 23, Concordia Parish Emergency Director Morris White said.

The disaster recovery center is for FEMA to help residents process claims for federal assistance in replacing or repairing property damaged by Hurricane Gustav.

Adams County residents will also be able to use the center. The disaster recovery center that was located in Adams County closed Oct. 31.

Those who wish to process a claim should pre-register with FEMA.

The center will have a trailer with computers linked to the FEMA network, so the workers will be able to pull the pre-registered information up quickly, White said.
