NATCHEZ – Services for Albert “Judge” Thompson, 95, of Natchez, who died Friday, Nov. 7, 2008, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at noon Saturday at Pilgrim Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny Elery officiating.
Burial will follow at Pine Hill Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mr. Thompson was born July 20, 1913, in Cannonsburg, the son of Josephine Plummer and Eugene Thompson. His employment included Ricks Lumber Company and Myers Electric Company. He was retired.
He was a member of Mount Bethel Baptist Church, in Cannonsburg, where he served as a deacon until his death. He loved to watch baseball.
He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers, Charlie Thompson, B.B. Thompson, Jonathan “Bishop” Thompson, Mack Thompson, John Thompson, Jessie Thompson and James White; and three sisters, Charlotte “Doll Baby” Thompson, Ella Thompson and Flotie Woods.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 58 years, Lula Mae Thompson; four sons, Johnnie Lee Moore and wife, Pamela, both of Novi, Mich., Albert J. Thompson of Natchez, Clyde Thompson and wife, Robin, both of Falls Church, Va. and George Thompson and wife, Patricia, both of Jackson; four daughters, Frances Bailey and husband, Charles, and Annette Anderson, all of Natchez, Diane Davis of Shreveport, La. and Wanda Viverette and husband, Lamar, both of Jackson; two grandchildren he raised as his own, Merle and Muriel Davis; one sister, Exlena Willis of Natchez; three brothers, Alonzo “Duck” Irving and wife, Mildred, J.C. Thompson and J.W. Thompson, all of Natchez; four sisters-in-law, Shirley Thompson, Jessie Fleming, Eddice Hobson and Matile Hall, all of Natchez; one brother-in-law, Aaron Jackson of Natchez; 25 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and close friends.
Pallbearers will be friends and family.
