Natchez — The oldest settlement on the Mississippi River just got a new encampment on the Internet.
Natchez Newspapers Inc., publishers of The Natchez Democrat, natchezdemocrat.com and natchezscene.com, today launched a new Web site featuring information for tourists to the area.
Web Editor Ben Hillyer created the site, which is located at www.natchezontheriver.com.
The site features a broad range of information from house tours to lists of restaurants and accommodation options.
In addition, feature stories and photo galleries will give readers a deeper understanding of the area.
From stories about best-selling author Greg Iles to galleries of historic photographs from the Norman Collection, the site has a little something for every taste.
The online site also features a comprehensive calendar of events of interest to visitors.
“We’re excited by the ability to share this information with visitors on their schedules,” said Publisher Kevin Cooper. “Until now, much of this information was only accessible in our special print editions.
“Today’s travelers often plan trips well in advance of arriving here and they like to research information from a variety of sources online,” he said. “The new site is a great resource for that.”
