Come have Christmas at Auburn
Published 12:00 am Monday, December 1, 2008
For the third consecutive year, the members at Auburn are inviting you to be part of their Christmas.
It is free for you and any friends or family who would like to come with you on Sunday afternoon, from 1 to 3 p.m. Dec. 14.
The halls are decked and the mistletoe is hung.
Very special guests this year are the Reeves sisters who will be providing violin music for the enjoyment of all. It is our pleasure to display the restoration of an upstairs window that had been closed for 35 years, but is original to the house.
It is not complete, but the effect is obvious and we are happy to share the process with you. There is a lot of new exterior paint provided in cooperation with the City of Natchez who owns the property as part of Duncan Park.
Of course the beautiful free-standing spiral entrance is even more striking with garland and a 10-foot decorated tree setting it off.
Enjoy refreshments as you wander through each of the decorated rooms. There is something wonderful to see from the front door garland to every part of the house.
We are pleased to discuss current and future plans for the home as we begin to prepare for its 200th anniversary.
You read that right. In 2012, the original central portion of this house including that staircase will be 200 years old.
Your help is needed. If you have any ideas or suggestions for making the anniversary special, please let any or the members know while you relax from the Christmas rush with us on Dec. 14.
See you there and if you can’t make it we hope to see you at any time during the year. Merry Christmas to all.
