No injuries were reported from the accident, LSP Troop “E” Public Information Officer Scott Moreau said.

LSP officers will on occasion investigate accidents involving livestock, but it is not a common occurrence, Moreau said.

In recent months, reports at the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office indicated motorists in Concordia Parish have also struck a pig and a cow.

The LSP usually follows up such an accident with a commission to locate the owner of the livestock, and if the owner can be located they are cited for livestock at large, Moreau said.

It is currently unknown who the owner of the horse was, Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Kathleen Stevens said.
