FERRIDAY — Services for Vernon Mitchell Craft, 92, of Ferriday, who died Friday, Dec. 5, 2008, in Alexandria, La., will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Lake St. John Community Baptist Church with the Rev. Karl Wilson officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Comer Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the church and from 12:30 p.m. until service time Sunday at the church.
Mr. Craft was born July 6, 1916, in Perry County, the son of D.C. Craft and Bessie M. Craft. He was a resident of Ferriday since 1942 and was a member of Lake St. John Community Baptist Church where he served as deacon. He retired from the tire curing department at Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company, in Natchez, with 35 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Doris Grantham; one grandson, Clayton Craft; and three brothers, J.C. Craft, Van D. Craft and D. J. Craft.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Rosie C. Craft; one son, Mickey Craft and wife, Edna, both of Ferriday; one son-in-law, Frank Grantham of Ridgecrest; one brother, S.C. Craft of Natchez; four grandchildren, Mike Grantham, Kenny Wayne Grantham, Michelle Edwards and Tisha Sontoyo; seven great-grandchildren, Lissa Grantham, Jason Grantham, Dylan Sontoyo, Naomi Grantham, Quincy Grantham, Tori Edwards and Brye Edwards.
Pallbearers will be Mike Grantham, Kenny Wayne Grantham, Joseph Sontoyo, Steve Edwards, Dylan Sontoyo and Todd Ainsworth.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lake St. John Community Baptist Church, Ferriday.
