January events planned at Jefferson College

Natchez — January is already full of events at Historic Jefferson College in Washington.
From Jan. 5 until Feb. 28, an art exhibit, “In The Southern Wild: Wildlife Photography” by Joe Mac Hudspeth will be at the college.
Hudspeth has also had work appear in Nature Conservancy calendars, on state hunting licenses, on duck stamps and in Mississippi Outdoors and Ducks Unlimited magazines.
The exhibit is open free of charge.
On. Jan. 17, the EXPLORE program will host a seminar on The secret lives of owls.
What do owls eat? Where do they live? Find out in this fun class for kids ages 6 to 8, from 10 until 11:30 a.m. and for ages 9 to 12 from 2 until 3:30 p.m. Students explore history and natural history through hands-on, educational, fun programming.
Pre-registration and payment required. Fee is $10.
On Jan. 22, a lunchtime lecture, “It’s All Greek Revival to Me,” presented by Mimi Miller of the Historic Natchez Foundation.
The PowerPoint lecture on architectural housing styles and their characteristics at noon and is free of charge,.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a brown bag lunch
A second lunchtime lecture will be on Jan. 27. “In Search of the Ivory-Billed Woodpecker” will be presented by Mark Bonta, associate professor of geography at Delta State University.
He will discuss his research in searching for this possibly extinct bird in Mississippi and Louisiana.
The lecture is free of charge. Attendees can bring a lunch.
