NASHVILLE, Tenn. — More than 1,000 volunteers gathered together in Nashville, Tenn., on Nov. 7 and 8 for a Relay For Life Leadership Summit.
Janis Holder and Kathy Prospere, American Cancer Society staff, of Natchez and Cathy Hill, Bridgid Martin, Billie Ann Smith and Conner Smith of Vidalia, and volunteers from five other states met for two days to discuss fund-raising ideas, participate in educational activities, and celebrate hope through Relay For Life, the American Cancer Society’s signature event.
“This Leadership Summit provided an opportunity for American Cancer Society Relay For Life volunteers to celebrate their accomplishments and prepare for the upcoming Relay For Life season,” said Grant Vosburgh, volunteer chair, Mid-South Division Relay Advisory Team. “Each of these volunteers represents a community that has taken up the fight against cancer, and many have fought their own personal battle with the disease. This was a tremendous opportunity to come together and learn from each other how we can each continue to fight cancer through our fundraising efforts.”
Now in its 25th year, Relay For Life has empowered more than 4,200 communities across the nation to fight back against cancer.
Relay For Life is a fun-filled, overnight event that mobilizes communities to celebrate survivors, anyone who has ever been diagnosed with cancer, remember loved ones lost, commit to fight back through healthy lifestyle changes, and raise money for the fight against cancer.
