Woodville — It took a little while for Wilkinson County Christian to get into its rhythm after playing all of its seniors the first quarter.
But everything worked out well in the end for the Rams on Senior Night in a 62-47 win against Tensas Academy.
George and Justin Davis, Christopher Houghton and Garrett Wilkerson all started the game.
“It took us a little while to get back into the flow of the game once my younger guys got back into the game,” coach Ray Olive said. “Tip McKenzie, Luke Whitaker and Todd Gonda didn’t come in until the end of the first quarter.”
Despite that, McKenzie scored 14 points — as did Houghton — and Gonda added 10.
The game was evenly matched through the first half, with Tensas up 20-18, but 17 points in both the third and fourth quarters gave the Rams the victory.
“Tensas is a much-improved team,” Olive said. “They played very hard throughout the game.”
Sam Russell and Austin Emfinger both scored 11 points for the Chiefs.
The Rams will be the No. 3 seed going into the MPSA District 6-A tournament at Huntington next week.

Mary Miller Ratcliff scored 20 to lead the Lady Chiefs over the Lady Rams Thursday, and Jordan Leake added 13.
Although WCCA had the 6-point halftime lead, the Lady Chiefs scored 19 points in the third and held the Rams to just 8 in the fourth for the win.
“We controlled the game for three quarters,” Olive said. “We had a few wasted trips, and they converted on theirs.
“I just feel they’re well seasoned in playing tight games, and their poise at the end served them well. We may have panicked a little toward the end.”
Allie Fontenot scored 18 for the Lady Rams.
WCCA will be the No. 3 seed at the MPSA District 6-A tournament at Huntington next week, while Tensas will be the No. 2 seed.
