VIDALIA — Already incarcerated on violent gun charges, a Ferriday man now faces additional allegations that he fired into a residence earlier this month.

Nino Johnson, 22, 2 1/2 Browns Alley, was booked on charges of aggravated assault by drive-by shooting at the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office Thursday.

Johnson was one of the 28 people arrested during Tuesday’s Operation Wake-Up Call, an interagency roundup of people with outstanding felony or narcotics warrants in Concordia Parish.

At the time of his arrest, he was charged with aggravated battery by the Ferriday Police in connection with a Jan. 10 shooting near the intersection of Texas and Seventh Street.

In that incident, one victim, a teenager, was wounded.

The new charges stem from a Jan. 7 incident, in which Johnson allegedly fired several shots into a residence, according to a statement from the CPSO.

There were reportedly several people — including children — in the residence at the time of the shooting.

While investigating the Jan. 10 shooting, Ferriday officers Jim Boren and Eddie Martin contacted the CPSO after they discovered it may have been the same person at both incidents, the statement said.

“This could have been a very, very tragic incident,” Sheriff Randy Maxwell said. “It’s extremely fortunate that that’s not the case. We’re very grateful to the Ferriday Police Department for sharing information linking the two cases, which led to solving our case as well.”
