NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Lamont Williams is suing the New Orleans Police Department and three officers involved in a Mardi Gras night fight at a bar.
In a federal lawsuit filed Thursday, Williams, who was at the bar with three other Regional Transit Authority workers, claims Sgt. Hans Gauthier and Officers Jason Samuel and Joey Lapene did nothing to stop an assault on him and his co-workers. In fact, the suit says, the three policemen also assaulted Williams, who is seeking unspecified damages.
The fight happened Feb. 5, 2008. An internal investigation began, and the officers were reassigned to administrative duties the following day.
