NATCHEZ — Services for Ray “Buck” Stephens, 70, of Roxie, who died Friday, Feb. 6, 2009, at his residence will be at 2 p.m. today at Laird Union Street Chapel with the Rev. Curt Wilson officiating.

Burial will follow in the Union Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon until service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Stephens was born Sept. 4, 1938, in Fayette, the son of Victor Hugo Stephens and Mattie L. Ivy Stephens. He worked for the state highway department as a maintenance man.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Kenneth Stephens; one sister, Bessie Sproles; one nephew, Speedee McCurley and one brother-in-law, Lavern Brown.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Stephens; two daughters, Jeannine Middleton and her husband Terry and Elizabeth Ray and her husband Carl all of Roxie; two sons, Jimmy Stephens and his wife Theresa and Christopher Stephens and his wife Amanda all of Roxie; five sisters, Jean Brown of Natchez, Mildred McCurley of Hazelhurst, Lucy Mae Stephens, Jessie Locke and Elaine Rutland all of Dothan, Ala.; two brothers, his twin brother Sherwin Stephens of Redlick and John Garrett Stephens of Dothan, Ala.; 15 grandchildren, Victoria Stephens, William Stephens, Angel Middleton, Joshua Middleton, December Mullins, Timothy Stephens, Gavin Stephens, Jacob Hester, Lisa Smith, Steven Carpenter, Killyann Stephens, Christopher Stephens Jr., Dakota Ray, Jason Ray and Tiffany Ray; one great-grandchild, Payton McNaughton and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Rodney Grantham, Richard Grantham, Melvin Grantham, Bobby Joe Grace, Jackie Grantham and Michael Middleton.

Honorary pallbearers will be Timothy Stephens, William Stephens, Dakota Ray, Jason Ray, Gavin Stephens, Joshua Middleton, Steven Carpenter and Christopher Stephens Jr.
