WCCA announces spelling bee winners

Woodville — WCCA school wide spelling bee was on Wednesday Feb. 11. Congratulations to first place winner Kelly Arnold, second place winner Lydia Morris and third place winner Sam Nicholas.
Allie Fontenot was selected to play on the South A All-Star Basketball Team. The game will be March 7.
The annual junior-senior trip will carry our students to New York City and Washington, D.C., where they will visit many exciting and historic places. Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Cutrer, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Chaffin and Mrs. Patty Percy will accompany the students.
Deborah Whetstone’s sixth-grade class sold Valentines to raise money for the Natchez Children’s Home. This act of kindness will be accompanied by a beautiful banner that has decorated the WCCA cafeteria for the past two weeks.
Shep Crawford, a local attorney, presented the devotion at Monday’s weekly assembly. The student body was challenged to do kind deeds and be courageous in their daily living.
On Thursday Scott Spinks Taekwondo School from Watson, La., put on a karate exhibition for grades kindergarten through 12 in the WCCA gym. Black belts from the karate school demonstrated various karate moves to emphasize Christian values and character.
On Friday the WCCA fifth and sixth grades led a Mardi Gras parade around the parking lot. Students in grades kindergarten through fourth enjoyed the festive floats, catching beads and dancing to the music.
The WCCA Ram Baseball team started off the season with a win against Tallulah Academy. Schedules for the 2009 Ram Baseball season are in the school office.
The WCCA sophomores would like thank everyone who bought carnations from them. Special thanks to those who were understanding of the orders lost in the accident.
Field Day 2009 will be on March 28.

Feb. 28 – WCCA baseball vs. Amite School Center at home at 1 and 3 p.m.
March 3 — District science fair in Centerville.
March 5 — Baseball will play at Franklin at 5 p.m.
March 6 — Baseball at WCCA against Centreville at 1 p.m.
March 9 — WCCA baseball versus Brookhaven at 4 p.m.
