FERRIDAY — Ferriday fire officials responded to a fire that completely destroyed a residence Tuesday.

The fire department responded to the call at 413 Love St. at approximately 9:10 a.m.

The residents were at home at the time of the fire, and called for help when they smelled smoke, Fire Chief Joe Sontoyo said.

When responders arrived at the wood frame house, the fire was fully engaged and eventually resulted in a total loss, Sontoyo said.

The fire department received assistance from the Ridgecrest Fire Department and the Concordia Fire District No. 2.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
