ROXIE — Services for Emile Smith Sr., 61, of Roxie, who died Friday, March 6, 2009, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Windy Hill Baptist Church No. 1 on Cranfield Road.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home in Bude.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mr. Smith was born May 1, 1947, in Adams County, the son of Phillip Smith and Mary Fleming.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Charlie and Katie Fleming; one son, Emile Joseph Chaney; one aunt, Claudia Briggs; and three uncles, Lawrence, Charles and Richard Fleming.
Survivors include a loving and devoted wife, Deloris Smith; one son, Vincent Bruce Chaney Jr.; one grandson, Emile Joshua Young, both of New Orleans; two stepsons, Ezell and Clarence Wilson, both of Natchez; one stepdaughter, Marcia Diane Wilson of Natchez; two sisters, Emma Louise Burton and husband, Louis, both of New Orleans, and Linda Louise Montgomery and husband, Xavier, of Great Mills, Md.; one brother, Michael Fleming and wife, Miketta, both of Flint, Mich.; five aunts, Clara Lewis and Juanita Fleming, both of Natchez, Gladys Miller and Nellie Fleming, both of Baton Rouge, and Earline White of Houston, Texas; two uncles, Albert and James Fleming, both Natchez; father-in-law, Charles Arbuthnot and wife, Exelena, both of Natchez; five sisters-in-law, Daisy Arbuthnot Baker, Rose Arrington and husband, Robert, and Mary Arbuthnot Bates, all of Natchez, Annie Price and husband, Percy, both of Hinesville, Ga., and Addie Arbuthnot of Los Angeles; one brother-in-law, Clarence Arbuthnot and wife, Debra, both of Gulfport; three stepgrandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
