BOGUE CHITTO — Darcy Miller’s two-run double helped spark a six-run rally in the bottom of the second inning as the Bogue Chitto Lady Bobcats defeated the Cathedral Lady Green Wave 9-1 Monday afternoon in Division 7-1A action.

Bogue Chitto went into the bottom of the second tied with Cathedral at 1-1. Then Cathedral starting pitcher Laura Perilloux walked the first two batters she faced before an error brought in one run to give the Lady Bobcats the lead for good. But they weren’t done scoring yet.

After Perilloux walked another batter, this time with one out, Cathedral committed its second error of the inning and that brought in two more runs to give Bogue Chitto a 4-1 lead. Miller’s big hit gave the Lady Bobcats a 6-1 lead and they scored another run on a passed ball before hitting into a double play to end the inning.

That would be more than enough run support for Bogue Chitto’s Toy Smith, who didn’t allow a single run after the first inning. Smith allowed five hits, struck out seven and walked three to earn the win.

Cathedral scored its only run in the top of the first inning. Betsy Daggett drew a leadoff walk. Melissa Cavin hit a ground ball to the shortstop, who fielded it but overthrew the second baseman and the ball went to right centerfield, allowing Daggett to get to home plate with the game’s first run.

Perilloux, the losing pitcher, gave up seven runs, four of them earned, on three hits and three walks in two innings. Mollie Devening went the final four innings for Cathedral (3-12, 0-2). She allowed two runs, just one hit but five walks, and struck out two.

Bogue Chitto’s Josie Porter was the only multiple hitter for either team, going 2-for-3 with a double.

Cathedral will play at West Lincoln at 5 p.m. today in division action. The two teams were scheduled to play on March 13, but it was postponed due to inclement weather. The Lady Green Wave will travel to Pascagoula on Friday to take on Resurrection for a division doubleheader at 5 and 7 p.m.

Cathedral was originally scheduled to play at Harrisonburg today and then host Grace Christian for a doubleheader on Friday, but those games have been canceled.

Franklin County 10, Tylertown 0

MEADVILLE — Destiny DeDeaux was in the zone Monday night, and for her Franklin County teammates it came at a good time. The Lady Bulldogs ambushed Tylertown 10-0 behind an 8-strikeout no-hitter from DeDeaux, who also added three hits in the 5-inning contest.

With DeDeaux in her groove, the Lady Dawgs offense came alive by plating multiple runs each inning. Franklin County senior catcher Taylor Stewart led all batters with two doubles and a single for four RBIs, plus was defensively sound behind the plate. DeDeaux plated three singles.

The Lady Dawgs (14-6, 2-2) also got two singles apiece from juniors Kacey Smith and Katie Forman. Vandrianna Norman and Morgan Knapp also added a single each.

Sara Albarado absorbed the loss for Tylertown, who is coached by Jessie Crain.

Franklin County resumes play tonight at rival North Pike for a key Division 7-3A matchup starting at 7.
