FERRIDAY — Services for Gerry Thomas Buckles, 21, of Alexandria, La., who moved into heaven’s hands Sunday, March 22, 2009, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Young’s Funeral Home with the Rev. A.B. Masters officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Buckles was born Feb. 17, 1988, in Natchez, the son of Gerry Buckles and Shirley Jean Starr. Though his life here on earth was short, he touched the lives of many and he will never be forgotten.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Thomas Jefferson McVay Jr.
Survivors include his mother of Leesville, La.; his father and stepmother, Carmen Buckles, both of Ferriday; two maternal grandmothers, Teresa McVay of Haynesville, La., and Linda Sue McVay of Ferriday; paternal grandfathers, Gerry Buckles and wife, Lydia, both of Summit, and Liz Sikes and husband, Dewayne, both of Ferriday; three sisters, Cassie Buckles, Jessica Venard and Megan Venard, all Leesville; one brother, Matthew Buckles of Ferriday; one uncle, Michael Buckles of Vidalia; four aunts, Kathy Cloud of Rogers, Ark., Rebecca Gifford and husband, David, both of Minden, La., Christina Flora and husband, John, both of Leesville, and Chasity Seals and husband, Brian, both of Ridgecrest; 15 cousins; and a number of family friends.
