FAYETTE — Services for Joseph D. “Joe” Sanders, 76, of Fayette, who died Saturday, March 28, 2009, at Promise Specialty Hospital in Ferriday, were 11 a.m. Thursday at Fayette Baptist Church with the Rev. Buddy Sirman and the Rev. Bobby Poole officiating.
Burial followed at Fayette City Cemetery under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home in Fayette.
Mr. Sanders was born Nov. 1, 1932, in Fayette, the son of Thomas Jefferson Sr. and Susie Davis Sanders. He was retired from Southwest Mississippi Electric Power Association. Mr. Sanders served his country in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, T.J. Sanders Jr. of Natchez and Bobby Sanders of Fayette; one sister, Margie Shelton of Crystal Springs; and one brother-in-law, Bilbo Moffett of Fayette.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Sue Sanders; one daughter, Rhonda Sanders and fiancé, Thomas Corcoran, both of Philadelphia, Pa.; one son, Patrick Allan Sanders of Fayette; one brother, Eugene Sanders and wife, Elise, both of Fayette; four sisters, Rita Beesley and husband, Bennie, and Bonnie Moffett, all of Fayette, Susie Harrigill and husband, Claude, both of Natchez, and Hilda Burns and husband, Donald, both of Columbus.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Moffett, Wade Brown, Thomas Sanders, Terry Moffett, Joey Moffett, John Moffett and Donald Burns Jr.
