River holding steady, but Miss-Lou busy

Perhaps the best news of the week was no news at all. The Mississippi River isn’t flooding.
This time last year the river levels were approaching record heights and the area was already being impacted.
But, for now anyway, we aren’t facing a flood.
While the river sat relatively still, other news did not.
Let’s review some of the good headlines last week brought.
4 The Auburn Garden Club has changed its name to better fit its mission. This group of women — and soon to be men — has done great things for the city-owned historic house, and we are happy they are redefining their name a bit.
4 The Cathedral School tennis team won the South State Championship Tuesday. The school has had a bit of a tennis legacy in years, and we are happy the wins keep coming.
4 Though we can’t say we are comfortable with 9-year-old Austin Heard’s hobby, we agree this boy has a bright future ahead. Heard collects Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches. And his interest in the insects is bound to create a future scientist.
4 The Natchez-Adams School Board and the Natchez Police Department are hoping to partner for safety’s sake. The two groups want to apply for a grant that would purchase security equipment for area schools.
As we nibble the last bits of Easter chocolate, we know the week to come will be a good one as well.
