JACKSON — Two Wilkinson County High School powerlifters shattered state records earlier this month.

The Wildcat team placed fourth in the state out of 52 teams.

“Our lifters put forth a great effort — one senior, one junior and three sophomores — and they brought home two state records and two of the possible 12 gold medals,” coach Bobby Webb said. “We are very young, and my other lifters were knocked out by older, more experienced lifters.”

Wyatt won in the 132-pound weight class with a total of 1,040 points, and Baker won in the 148-pound class with 1,190 points.

McClain High won the state title.
