JENA, La. — Funeral services for Alvin F. Ford, 92, who died Saturday, April 18, 2009, at LaSalle Nursing Home in Jena, will be 2 p.m. today at Hixon Brothers Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Arvie Jolly and Emmit Belgard officiating.

Burial will follow in the Taylor Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Hixon Brothers Funeral Home.

Mr. Ford was born Oct. 10, 1916, the son of Benjamin Esau and Annie Ruth Bass Ford. He was a logger in the timber industry and was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lucy Ford; one daughter, Gloria Sue Ford Ducote; two brothers, Albert Sherman and Wonnie Ford; and two sisters, Audie Brown and Ruth Bass.

Survivors include two sons, Bobby Lee Ford and wife Evelyn and Travis Ford and wife Virginia, all of Jonesville; one daughter, Vicki Dianne Thompson of Ball; one brother, Benjamin E. “Pete” Ford of Jonesville; one sister, Velma Lee Jones of Jena; one son-in-law, Michael Ducote; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Barry Ford, Kyle Ford, Joseph Davis, John Davis, Monty Smith, James Ford, Todd Babin and Freddie “Butch” Bass.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Davis, Todd Babin Jr., Spencer Yarbough, Travis Smith and Cullen Jordan.
