Tattered U.S. flag a slap in the face

The U.S. flag at the Vidalia office of the U.S. Postal Service is a disgrace.

This particular flag is in such poor condition that it should have been properly retired for over a year now. I, for one, believe that the postmaster should be ashamed for not replacing this worn flag.

To let a Flag of the United States be flown in such condition, is a slap in the face to every veteran who fought and died for what that flag stands for. The U.S. Postal Service should replace the postmaster for his/her dereliction of duty and for the willful neglect of the great symbol of our country.

We may not all agree politically, but we are all still Americans. We all should have the utmost respect and reverence for the flag. I do understand that flags get tattered, but to let this flag be flown for over a year in this condition is completely wrong and cannot be allowed to continue. We as individual citizens of this country have a right to stand up and voice our concerns and have our say because of what that flag stands for. That right was won in blood and we should never forget that. Retire the flag respectfully, and replace it with a new and proud Old Glory. God bless America.
