Don’t forget to thank the mothers

Thank God for moms. For without them, little in the world would likely get done.
On the simplest terms, none of us would be here without a mother. But while mothers gave birth to us, moms raised us and helped shape our early lives.
Think of all of the things your mom did for you as you were growing up — countless skinned knee and bug bite remedies, numerous treatments for cuts and scratches.
And we’re not even talking about the hundreds of dirty diapers and dozens of smelly socks.
As we celebrate Mother’s Day today, we’re often quick to think of the traditional roles of a mother as the head of house — and the housework.
But that picture of a mom is far less accurate today.
No, today’s mom often has to worry about much more than just when to get dinner started and what to add to the grocery list.
Today’s moms are more likely to work outside the home, more likely to be a single parent.
But those moms manage to also fit in all of the other motherly duties — from emergency playground medical treatment to teaching the importance of sharing and of behaving in public.
Mothers today come in all shapes and sizes. But moms share one thing in common — amazingly big hearts and for that we are all thankful.
Happy Mother’s Day.
