WOODVILLE — Services for Elaine Parker “Carterly” Carter, 98, of Woodville, who went home to be with her Savior Sunday, May 10, 2009, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Woodville Baptist Church with Dr. Dan Howard and the Rev. Rob Muncy officiating.
Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Woodville under the direction of Brown Funeral Home in Gloster.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.
Mrs. Carter was born Dec. 18, 1910, the daughter of Edward A. Parker and Roxana Cobb Parker. She was a homemaker and the oldest active member of Woodville Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dave Elliott Carter; one brother, Leo S. Parker; and one sister, Roberta P. Baxter.
Survivors include one son, Norman M. Carter and wife, Talmadge, of Woodville; one daughter, Frances C. Landrem and husband, Charles, of Zachary, La.; six grandchildren, Melanie Lavergne and husband, Phil, Norman Greg Carter Jr. and wife, Jennifer, Sister Josette Michelle Carter, OCD, Jill R. Carter, Kyle Landrem and wife, Donna, and Jason Landrem and wife, Leigh; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Carter will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. To know her was to love her.
